INTERVIEW

Carlo Besenzoni

“Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation” Postholder or Myair.com’s Head of Technical Management has worked with the three main aircraft manufacturers, Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier, gaining extensive experience in air transport with scheduled and charter long-haul flights and later joining a low-cost airline.

What he does

“The Technical Management department of an airline carries out a series of activities ranging from setting-out aircraft maintenance schedules to planning such maintenance and supervising the airworthiness of the fleet. In carrying out its duties in compliance with the requirements and regulations issued by the Aeronautical Authority, the Technical Organisation makes use of the tools and documentation supplied by aircraft manufacturers.

“This Management also ensures that inspections and maintenance are performed at the envisaged intervals both during regular service and scheduled out-of- service stops, through constant relations with Maintenance Organisations and Technical Service providers.

“With the right balance of flexibility, specific skill, organisation size and fleet size, the right choices are made for each airline on the basis of its technical and operative strategy.”

Curriculum Vitae

After graduating in 1994 with a degree in Aviation Engineering from Milan Polytechnic, Besenzoni gained experience as Technical Manager in the cargo sector, then moved into the world of airliners in 1995 when he joined Air Europe’s Engineering Department.

At Air Europe, he went from long-haul Boeing flights to the Airbus fleet in 1999, with the role of Chief Engineer, coordinating the commissioning of the A320 and all engineering activities. In 2001 he joined Volare as Engineering Manager and subsequently Engineering Director, remaining there until 2005 when he was Head of Technical Management. After a period of Technical Management in the cargo sector, he joined Myair.com in 2007, initially as Maintenance Manager and subsequently Head of Technical Management.
